Superior Materials

It has been said “if you think education is expensive, try ignorance”...   and this is especially true when building a home.

Admira Design Group has a variety of options available, and we're able to recommend based on your requirements during the design phase in order for you to select the perfect system to build the perfect home.

Ziegel Block

Anyone looking to build their home should should be aware of the building systems proven for over a century around the world that are only relatively recently becoming known in New Zealand.

Ziegel (“clay block” in German) has been around for over 150 years homes and the homes made back then are still around today. It's pure clay, and yet produces one of the healthiest and most sustainable homes on the planet.

These home breath well, do not grow mold, burn or break during earthquakes, but their greatest advantage is their thermal mass.

Their unique thermal mass means they change by around three degrees between the higher temperatures of summer and the lowest of winter, requiring little to no cooling or heating.

The Zeigel block is becoming popular in New Zealand, with quite a lot of these homes being built, and finding them particularly suited to the Kiwi climate.

AAC Block

A similar but more economical option is the AAC Block (Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) which was developed in Sweden over a century ago and is now common through much of the world.

These blocks have great thermal - acoustic insulation as well as thermal mass. Their versatility with being able to be cut, carved, and shaped to create softer edges and forms makes them an excellent building solution.

Homes built with this system were among the few that survived the 1995 Kobe earthquake in Japan.

Modular System

Another option that has proved successful in many projects is our modular system. The units we develop are made to specification, and based on standardized sizing of shipping container so they can be located anywhere in the world using established transport systems.

They work much like a child's lego block set in that their modularity makes them so adaptive, and their construction has many superior properties.

In the interest of finding the most effective and resilient building system, we combined the global shipping container network with our experience in super yachts interior design - making the most of interior spaces to maximise room.

We've built projects in New Zealand, China, Vietnam, Samoa and Rarotonga that are resistant to quakes, hurricane, fire, water, burglars and termites - truly one of the most adaptable systems available.

In all our experience designing and building in various countries we've found the tropical islands to be the most demanding and the most rewarding for their sheer beauty.

The combination of heat, moisture, salt air, termites and other factors require a very different approach to the entire design and build process.

And we've personally delivered and assembled homes like this to Samoa, The Cook Islands and other remote and wonderful locations.

a decade in development

During the GFC of 2008 and 2009 we saw the need for more economical building systems and began to modify containers to create some very interesting homes.

As costs in N.Z. continued to escalate we began to outsource some of these projects internationally, and have found this to most effective for all - both in terms of build and material quality, and cost effectiveness.

Several years ago we began to build a strong relationship with a fabrication company in Vietnam, and constant communication, co-development, and training from our specialists, they have proved to be the very best we've ever encountered.

As an example, the home on the left was delivered and assembled only a few months after arriving in N.Z.

The deck and railing were prefabricated by our team in Vietnam along with the nine modules which compose this home.

This team are presently creating a home with 21 modules and some amazing outdoor living spaces, all delivered and ready for a quick assembly in New Zealand.

Our modular system is the product of decades of research, experience, and the latest in building technology, and we're pleased to be able to offer this as a building solution to our clients.
